Bradley James has joined Netflix’s animated drama series The Liberator.

Deadline reports that the 35-year-old actor has been cast as the lead in the streamer’s four-part animated World War II drama series.

The Liberator is based on the book The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey by Alex Kershaw. Adapting the novel to the small screen is Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive). The novel traces the remarkable battlefield journey of maverick US Army officer Felix Sparks through from the first landing in Italy to the end of the Third Reich over 500 bloody days.

According to the outlet the series will be the first to be produced in Trioscope, a new animation technology that combines CGI with live-action.

James’ credits include Netflix’s Medici franchise, the Merlin TV series, iZombie, Homeland and Bounty Hunters.
