A new take on Batgirl is one of the most exciting movies that DC Films has on the way, and its cast is shaping up to be amazing. In addition to Leslie Grace, set to play the titular role, this project will also star Brendan Fraser as the film’s main villain.
It’s yet to be confirmed who exactly Fraser will play, but multiple sources reported he’s been cast as Firefly. He’s been introduced as a criminal who utilized lighting effects to commit robberies, before turning into a sociopathic pyromaniac with an obsession with starting fires.
Batgirl will be the first major DC movie to debut exclusively on HBO Max and it will center on Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, as she takes on the mental of Batgirl. Leslie Grace, best known for her role in In the Heights, has been cast in the titular role, with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directing the project.
Brendan Fraser is experiencing somewhat of a career renascence right now, and Batgirl joins a long list of projects he’s currently working on. The Mummy star also joined Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon earlier this year.
