The comedy duo who brought us Bridesmaids is coming back together for Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.
Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo will star in the Lionsgate film which will be released on premium video on demand on February 12 instead of opening in theaters on July 16.
Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar follows lifelong best friends, played by Wiig and Mumolo, who decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time ever to go on a vacation to Florida.
In the trailer, we see Barb and Star’s love for movie trailers. “I like how they’re little movies about another movie before a different movie,” Star tells Barb, while making sure not to reveal their faces. The trailer is set to Madonna’s “Holiday” and it features a lot of over-the-top Hawaiian prints, tons of sunscreen, an abundance of shirtless men, and an evil lair.
Rounding out the cast are Jamie Dornan, Damon Wayans Jr., Fortune Feimster, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rose Abdoo, Vanessa Bayer, Phyllis Smith, and Kwame Patterson. The film is directed by Josh Greenbaum from a screenplay by Wiig and Mumolo.
