The highly-anticipated adaptation of the beloved musical Wicked is on the way, and its cast will be as amazing as it gets. Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey is the latest to join Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in Jon M. Chu’s two-part adaptation of the cult stage musical.

Wicked tells the untold tale of Glinda and Elphaba, the witches from The Wizard of Oz. The two young witches form an unlikely friendship, but their relationship struggles through opposing personalities and world views and Elphaba’s fall from grace, eventually leading to her becoming the Wicked Witch of the West.

Erivo is set to portray Elphaba, while Grande will play Glinda. Bailey is set to join them in the role of Fiyero, who serves as a love interest for both women. The rest of the cast is yet to be announced.

After Variety broke the news about Bailey’s casting, director Jon M. Chu confirmed it on Twitter, writing, “He’s perfect, they’re perfect. They’d be perfect together. Born to be forever….. I am too excited to pretend this hasn’t been happening. We have a Fiyero!!!! #JonathanBailey #Wicked.”

The two-part adaptation of Wicked isn’t the only exciting project that Bailey has on the way. In addition to being attached to the third season of Bridgerton, he recently joined Showtime’s limited series Fellow Travelers.
