The Brit Awards are taking a gender-neutral twist this upcoming year, and we finally know who’ll be competing for the shiny trophies. Adele and Ed Sheeran topped the list of nominees in four gender-neutral categories, joined by Dave and Little Simz.

All four artists are in the running for two of the biggest awards of the night—the artists of the year and album of the year. Adele is competing with her recently released album 30, while Sheeran will face here with his latest LP Equals aka =. Sam Fender joins them as the fifth contender.

Adele, Sheeran, and Dave are also in the running for the song of the year, but the field is more crowded than ever. The list of nominees features a total of 15 songs, including Sheeran’s “Bad Habits”, Adele’s “Easy on Me”, and “Cold Heart” by Elton John and Dua Lipa.

The Brits shared their list of nominees about a year after announcing they would be removing gendered categories from all future ceremonies. The British male solo artist award and the British female solo artist award were replaced by a single category, with several more additional categories being introduced or revived.

The upcoming Brit Awards will be held on February 8th, 2022 at the O2 Arena in London, with Mo Gilligan hosting the ceremony.
