BTS has been tirelessly working to put a smile on our faces with their catchy music, but even they need a moment to themselves. The K-pop band will take an “extended period of rest” to recharge their creative batteries before going back to making music.

The band’s label Big Hit Music announced their decision to step down from the spotlight in an official statement and said they’ll use this time to focus on preparing for the concert and release of the new album that will mark the beginning of a new chapter.

“This period of rest will provide the members of BTS who have tirelessly committed themselves to their activities, a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy. It will also be the first time for them since their debut to spend the holiday season with their families,” reads Big Hit’s statement.

BTS took their first period of rest in 2019, and this short break was followed by some of the biggest successes of their career. They gave us two chart-topping solo songs in 2020 with “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On” and repeated that same success in 2021 with “Butter” and “Permission to Dance”. They’ll officially take a break after completing their scheduled events on BTS Permission to Dance On Stage — LA and the 2021 Jingle Ball Tour.
