No one does a better job hyping their new music than BTS, and their latest album is a case in point. The K-pop band managed to create so much buzz around Map of the Soul: 7 that it easily reached the top of the charts, becoming their fourth album to do so.

BTS previously topped the Billboard 200 chart with their studio album Love Yourself: Tear from 2018, a compilation record Love Yourself: Answer which came out only a few months later, and last year’s EP Map of the Soul: Persona.

What makes the success of Map of the Soul: 7 so remarkable isn’t just the fact it’s their fourth no. 1 album in less than two years. It also had the biggest opening of 2020, with 422,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week.

The album’s lead single, “On”, debuted at no. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their highest charting single so far. They previously made it to top 10 with “Fake Love” and Halsey collaboration “Boy With Luv”.
