Millions of K-pop fans around the world were looking forward to seeing BTS live this year, but their plans are being put on hold after members of the beloved boy band made a sensible choice to suspend their “Map of the Soul” tour.

BTS’ management, Big Hit Entertainment, released an official statement explaining why they decided to cancel the tour and possibly re-schedule it to a later date when the time is right.

“Due to the nature of BTS concerts, involving travel by thousands of international fans no matter where the performances are held, it is also difficult to resume the tour with the current strict restrictions on cross-border movement still in place,” reads the statement.

The “Map of the Soul” tour was supposed to kick off with four concerts at the Seoul Olympic Stadium on April 11th, before moving to the US. BTS was also planning to tour across Europe and Asia this summer, but they’re not proceeding with these plans.

BTS is still leaving the Army with something to look forward to – their new docu-series Break the Silence will premiere on May 12th.
