BTS gave us one of the most explosive smash hits of the summer with “Dynamite” and it was just a matter of time before this song blasted to the top of the charts. That finally happened this week, and this catchy track became the K-pop band’s first single to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

BTS gave us three top 10 hits with “On”, “Fake Love”, and “Boys with Luv” featuring Halsey, but “Dynamite” accomplished something none of them could. It debuted on No. 1 at the Billboard Hot 100, with 300,000 units sold in the first week alone.

BTS’ first English-language singles also had 33.9 million streams and 11.6 million radio airplay audience impressions. It had better digital sales than any other song in nearly three years, but it couldn’t surpass Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”.

What makes BTS’ triumph even more impressive is the fact they became the first all-South Korean group to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Dynamite” also made it to the top 10 in several more countries outside the US, and it will serve as the lead single on their next studio album.
