We can count on BTS to set new YouTube records every time they drop a new song, and their latest single “Butter” didn’t disappoint. The K-pop band’s second English language song broke several records previously held by their Grammy-nominated smash hit “Dynamite”.

After weeks of teasing “Butter” on social media, BTS finally gave their fans what they’ve been waiting for—a retro music video for this 80s-inspired song that drew comparisons to Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”.

Only a day after “Butter” was released on May 21st, Forbes reported it had the biggest 24-hour debut in YouTube history, with 112.855 million views on this video-sharing platform during this time frame. It also had the biggest music video premiere on YouTube with over 3.9 million concurrent viewers, breaking the record previously held by “Dynamite”.

“Butter” is BTS’ second single of 2021 after “Film Out”, which came out back in April. The K-pop group is currently gearing up for the release of their Japanese-language compilation album BTS, the Best, set to hit the shelves on June 16th.
