Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion made quite a splash with their new single “WAP” and it turns out everyone was listening. The song debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with more streams in its first week of release than any other song in the chart’s history.

The hip-hop duo dropped this smash hit on August 7th, and its lavish music video featured cameos from Kylie Jenner, Normani, Rosalía, and many more. It went viral in a matter of minutes and managed to reach 93 million streams in the U.S. in just one week.

“WAP” is Cardi B’s fourth single to reach no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Back in 2018, she became the first female rapper to have more than one top-charting Hot 100 hit. “WAP” will serve as the lead single from her upcoming sophomore album, and she’s hoping it will prove the world she’s no one-hit-wonder.

“I have to prove that, like this wasn’t a gimmick, this wasn’t like a one-time thing. This wasn’t because I was the new girl on the block. It’s my craft and I want to show that my craft is so good that it’s gonna do good for a second time,” explained Cardi B.
