Carice van Houten is Open to Starring in the “Game of Thrones” Prequel

Carice van Houten in "Game of Thrones"

Carice van Houten who played the Red Woman aka Melisandre in HBO’s Game of Thrones is open to taking part in the premium cabler’s upcoming prequel series House of the Dragon.

Given that her character is hundreds of years old she’s basically the only character that could be around the time of House of the Dragon, which is set in roughly 300 years before the events in GoT.

“Well, it would really depend on the storyline,” Van Houten, told Entertainment Weekly. “I would be interested if we could see a completely different side to her. It would have to be an interesting perspective that we haven’t seen before. Otherwise, I feel like I’ve closed it off in a natural way — which is also a good thing.”

Will House of the Dragon, which is focused on the Targaryen family’s rule, explore the origins of Melisandre (which are almost completely unknown)? It remains to be seen.
