There’s nothing sweeter than apple pie. Except of course, Carol Burnett and Kristen Wiig starring opposite each other on-screen.

The comedy queens will be appearing in the forthcoming series from Apple TV+, Mrs. American Pie. Based on the book, Mr. & Mrs. American Pie, by Juliet McDaniel, the show will be set amidst the world of Palm Beach’s high society in the early ‘70s.

Wiig will fill the lead role of Maxine Simmons who attempts to break into the elite circle without compromising her morals. Burnett will star alongside the Wonder Woman 1984 actress the grande dame of Palm Beach high society who possesses more than a few secrets.

The role marks the first time that the Annie star has been a series regular on a television show since The Carol Burnett Show concluded in the late ‘70s.

The 89-year-old actress is not the only notable name amongst the cast. Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb, Josh Lucas, and Ricky Martin have all signed on to the project which is being written by Abe Sylvia who brought us Dead to Me.

Mrs. American Pie was ordered straight to series in February, with filming currently underway.
