Marvel fans got used to seeing Chadwick Boseman in the Black Panther suit, but it’s time for new endeavors. He will play the lead in the upcoming action thriller 17 Bridges, produced by the Russo brothers.

Before embodying one of the most badass superheroes in MCU, Boseman already portrayed several notable figures. Jackie Robinson and James Brown come to mind. The role in his latest project will take him on a much darker path. Boseman will play a disgraced NYPD detective looking for redemption after being thrust into a manhunt for a cop killer.

Adam Fogelson, chairman of the studio STXfilms, described 17 Bridges as a “race-against-the-clock crime-drama” and said they assembled a dream team to bring this story to life.

“Chadwick Boseman’s razor-sharp instincts and undeniable charisma captivated millions of people around the world in Black Panther, and Joe and Anthony Russo have breathed a new energy into the action genre with films like Avengers: Infinity War,” said Fogelson.

STXfilms was launched only four years ago, but it’s already shaping out to be a success story. Their mission is to make medium-budget, star-driven content, and that’s exactly what they’ve been doing so far. 17 Bridges is only one of a dozen promising projects they’re developing right now, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store in the future.
