Although nothing has been set in stone, Charlize Theron has already teased that a sequel to The Old Guard is probably on the cards.
The Old Guard is the latest Netflix original to take social media by storm. Within the first four weeks of landing on the streaming platform, the film has been streamed in 72 million households.
The movie is based on a graphic novel of the same name. It was adapted by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Theron stars in the film as the leader of a group of immortal mercenaries. When asked by Variety about her reaction to the success of the movie, she said: “It’s pretty nutty, right?… It’s pretty crazy.”
Although the sequel hasn’t been confirmed, Theron is confident that the story is not over.
“We’re still pushing this one out,” she told Variety. “Let’s have a little resting period, but just given the fact that all of us really want to do it, I’m sure when it’s the right time, we’ll start the conversation.”
