The 1975 is the alternative band everyone had on repeat ever since their latest studio album came out, and it seems the Brit Awards voters also couldn’t stop listening to their addictive songs. Their latest record, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships won the award for best British album at this year’s ceremony.

The 1975 managed to beat the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Gorillaz and collect the award for the best British group. Frontman Matty Healy used his brief speech to send powerful message about misogyny in music industry.

“Male misogynists acts are examined for nuance and defended as traits of difficult artists. Whilst women and those that call them out are treated as hysterics who don’t understand art,” said Healy, quoting his good friend and deputy music editor of The Guardian, Laura Snapes.

This year’s Brit Awards took place at the O2 Arena in London and they were hosted by Jack Whitehall.
