Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande gave us some of the most talked-about music videos of the year, so it’s only fitting that they topped the list of MTV VMAs nominations with ten nods each.
Both pop stars scored nominations in the main category for the video of the year. Swift will be competing with her cameo-heavy visual for “You Need to Calm Down”, while Grande scored most of her nominations with the music video for “Thank U, Next”.
The video of the year category also includes 21 Savage and J. Cole (“A Lot”), Billie Eilish (“Bad Guy”), Jonas Brothers (“Sucker”), Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus (“Old Town Road). The ceremony will be held at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on August 26th, with Sebastian Maniscalco hosting for the first time.
