We now have our first look at life in plastic—and it’s fantastic!
With Barbie set to hit theaters in the summer, the first teaser trailer for the feature film has given us a peek at what to expect. And no surprise that it’s a lotta pink.
“Since the beginning of time, since the first little girl ever existed, there have been dolls. But the dolls were always and forever baby dolls,” narrates Helen Mirren as we see images of little girls playing with dolls in n a desert-like environment that may or may not be the Stone Age.
Dramatic music (and a pair of super long legs) then signal the arrival of Barbie, played by Margot Robbie. The Babylon actress sports a black-and-white striped swimsuit with matching shades. Her wink is enough to persuade the children to smash their beloved dolls into pieces.
The teaser also features glimpses of Ryan Gosling who plays Ken, Simu Liu dancing, and Issa Rae cheering.
It is believed that the film will see the Mattel doll escape Barbieland and venture into the real world, but details of the plot remain under wraps.
All will be revealed when Barbie opens in cinemas on July 21, 2023.
