Christopher Nolan is ready to blow our minds. Exactly a year before the film drops, the mastermind behind Inception has released the poster for his next picture which will focus on the founder of the atomic bomb.
Oppenheimer will see Cillian Murphy playing J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who contributed to the creation of the nuclear weapon during World War II. Years later, the director of the Institute for Advanced Study was persecuted by the anti-communist US government after he opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb.
The biopic is based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2005.
Murphy will lead an all-star cast that includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Angarano, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, and Matthew Modine.
If the poster is anything to go by, the film promises to be a blast. It features Murphy standing amidst plumes of smoke, with the tagline, “The World Forever Changes”.
Oppenheimer will hit theatres on July 21, 2023.
