“Cheers” Emmy Winner Kirstie Alley Passed Away at 71

Kirstie Alley, two-time Emmy-winning star of the iconic sitcom Cheers, passed away at 71 after losing the battle to cancer. The star of Look Who’s Talking and Veronica’s Closet is fondly remembered by her former co-stars, who posted touching tributes to her on social media.

Alley’s passing was confirmed in an official statement shared by her children True and Lillie Parker. They said she was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving them with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living.

“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered… We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time,” reads the duo’s statement.

Alley is best known for her roles in the sitcom Cheers and Veronica’s Closet and the movie series Look Who’s Talking, but she has dozens more credits to her name. Her recent credits include the TV series Kirstie and Scream Queens, the movie Accidental Love, and appearances on several reality shows, such as Celebrity Big Brother and The Masked Singer.

Following Alley’s passing, many celebrities shared emotional tributes on social media, including Cheers’ Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammer, and Rhea Perlman and her Look Who’s Talking co-star John Travolta.
