“To infinity and beyond!” Chris Evans will be voicing iconic action figure Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s Lightyear.

The Captain America actor shared the news on Twitter writing, “I don’t even have the words,” adding, “And just to be clear, this isn’t Buzz Lightyear the toy. This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on.”

The film is the “definitive story of the original Buzz Lightyear”, which Tim Allen voiced in four Toy Story films from 1995 to 2019. Lightyear is set to follow the young test pilot and how he became the space hero that influenced the Buzz Lightyear action figure.

Evans also posted his reaction on Instagram saying, “Working with Pixar is a dream come true. I’ve been a massive fan of their films since the very beginning. My team could barely contain their excitement when they told me that Pixar had a pitch for me. All they said was Buzz Lightyear. I didn’t know what that meant, since Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear, and no one could ever touch his performance.”

Evans just retired his role as Captain America in Avengers: Endgame after eight years and 11 MCU films.

Lightyear is due in theaters June 17, 2022.
