Chris Hemsworth almost didn’t star opposite Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones in Ghostbusters.

Variety reports that the 35-year-old Avengers: Endgame star has some serious doubts about participating in the feature as Kevin, an assistant to the Ghostbusters team.

“The night before I was shooting, I almost pulled out,” Hemsworth told the outlet. “Three or four weeks prior, Paul [Feig] said to me, ‘I’m going to write up the character. Don’t worry.’ And then I got the script and nothing had changed.”

Feig the director assured Hemsworth that there’s lots to do with the character not via the script, but rather through improvisation.

“I was really scared walking onto that set,” Hemsworth added. “I had no real plan, so I was just feeding off of them, and I just felt ridiculous. So I used that.”

The film was a box office success, raking in $128 million at the US box office and $229 million worldwide.
