Coldplay’s future studio albums are numbered.

On the day that the band released its 9th studio album, Music of the Spheres, its frontman has revealed that there aren’t many more in the bag.

“We’re going to make 12 albums,” Chris Martin told NME.

The singer explained how creating their award-winning records is a taxing process. “It’s a lot to pour everything into making them. I love it and it’s amazing, but it’s very intense too,” he said.

Although fans may be disappointed to hear that only three more albums are expected from the “My Universe” band, Martin says it is that which keeps the music fresh. “I feel like because I know that challenge is finite, making this music doesn’t feel difficult, it feels like, ‘This is what we’re supposed to be doing.’”

Coldplay will certainly be doing much more of that when they embark on their eighth world tour next March.
