Chris Pine and his Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins make quite a team and they’re ready to prove it once again. The dream duo reunited on the set of TNT’s limited series I Am the Night. Judging by the trailer alone, they’re getting ready to knock us off our feet with this gripping true story.

Pine stars as Jay Singletary, an investigative journalist who’s trying to uncover the mystery surrounding young local woman Fauna Hodel. After discovering she was given away at birth, Hodel tries to dig deeper into her past, only to discover it’s much more sinister than she thought. As investigation unravels, she comes closer to the infamous gynecologist George Hodel, who was involved in the “Black Dahlia” murder.

The Six-episode drama series is based on Hodel’s memoir One Day She’ll Darken and it’s set for January release. Trailer tried not to give away too much, but it made one thing pretty clear. It’s a gripping, dark and tragic tale that will send us down the rabbit hole with its heroes. According to the trailer, “some stories don’t want to be told” because they have the power to eat you alive. It seems I Am the Night is one of those stories, but Pine’s fans are up for the challenge.
