Chris Rock introduces Kanye West’s new album Ye with an emotional speech.

Last Thursday, Kanye held a listening party in Wyoming. His longtime friend, comedian, and collaborator on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Chris Rock, gave a speech to introduce the album.

“Rap music, hip-hop music, is the first art form created by free black men… and no black man has taken more advantage of his freedom than Kanye West,” Rock said.

The new album is packed with controversial lyrics but has received largely positive feedback from critics so far. The seven-track record features guest appearances from Kid Cudi, PartyNextDoor, and Nicki Minaj.

The Guardian said of the album: “For all its brevity, ye doesn’t feel slight. Substantially more focused than its predecessor, it packs a lot into 23 minutes. It is bold, risky, infuriating, compelling and a little exhausting: a vivid reflection of its author.”

The album was live-streamed to the public during the party Thursday night. According to Kim Kardashian-West, Kanye shot the album cover on his phone while heading to the party.

The album is now available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music in high quality.
