Christian Bale may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
That is the latest casting news, according to Variety who claims that the Ford V Ferrari actor is in talks to star in the upcoming Thor film. Thor: Love and Thunder will be the follow-up to 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok and see Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as the Nordic god.
It was revealed during San Diego ComicCon that Jane Foster, who has been portrayed in the series by Natalie Portman, would be lifting Thor’s hammer Mjolnir and will embody the persona of Mighty Thor as depicted in the comic books. Director Taika Waititi’s following of the canon possibly means that Cul will be the new villain in Love and Thunder. The God of Fear, as he is known, is Thor’s uncle and could be who Marvel bosses are eyeing Bale to play.
Filming in Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to start filming in Australia in August ahead of a November 5th, 2021 release.
