David O. Russell really kept us waiting for his next movie – but Amsterdam was worth the wait! The first trailer for this crime comedy is here, and it’s one wild, star-studded rollercoaster, led by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington.
According to its official logline, Amsterdam is “a fascinating and richly intricate tale that brilliantly weaves historical fact with fiction” and it centers on “three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.”
The first trailer tells us the backstory of the three main characters, played by Bale, Robbie, and Washington. After forming a pact to protect each other during their days in the army, they’re put on a test after being accused of a murder that they didn’t commit… or so they claim.
As always, O. Russell managed to ensemble a start-studded project that includes many A-list actors, besides the main trio. Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Zoe Saldaña, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro are also set to star.
Amsterdam is the director’s first film since 2015 when he released Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence. It’s set to premiere on November 4, just in time for awards season!
