Reports that Christian Bale is in negotiations for a part in the next installment in the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder have surfaced back in January. Now, we have the confirmation: Bale is signed up to play the main Villain opposing the god of thunder. This is not the first time Bale is appearing in a comics-based movie as he filled the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy.

Co-star Tessa Thompson has revealed the new addition to the cast in an interview with Entertainment Weekly: “Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic,” Thompson said. “I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie [Portman]  and I. We’re going to have fun. Taika [Waititi] is writing [and] directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix.”

The movie will, of course, see Chris Hemsworth returning to his role as Thor. Natalie Portman will also return to her role as Jane Foster — and will also be the Mighty Thor. Thompson will once again play Valkyrie. “She’s king,” she said. “If she can’t find her queen, she’ll just be king and queen at the same time.”

The movie is set to be released on November 5th, 2021.
