“Clueless” Series Focusing on Dionne in Works

Peacock is currently working on a series reboot of the 90s classic Clueless, which will focus on Dionne.

Still untitled, the comedy series has been described to Variety as, “a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sun-glasses wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans. How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?”

The show’s development was first reported last October, but no network or streaming service was attached to it.

Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey will write and executive produce the project. The film’s producer Robert Lawerence will also executive produce with Corrinne Brinkerhoff, Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, and Tiffany Grant.

Clueless debuted in 1995 and starred Alicia Silverstone as Cher and Stacey Dash as Dionne. A TV adaptation aired from 1996 to 1999 for three seasons with Rachel Blanchard playing Cher and Dash reprising the role of Dionne. Clueless: The Musical debuted on stage in New York in 2018.
