After being rescheduled four times, Coachella Music Festival has been moved from October 2021 to April 2022.

Even though many live-entertainment companies and prompters are at least partially resuming touring starting in late summer and fall, according to sources, the festival has been moved due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coachella, which takes place in California, usually sells out of its 125,000 tickets per day, and having over 100,000 people traveling and gathering per day presents the possibility of the coronavirus being transmitted. Also, while the event is still months away, preparations need to start immediately, which would be challenging for event organizers.

However, this rescheduling doesn’t mean that other festivals will be canceled or moved to a new date as California has stricter COVID protocols than other states.

“There’s a big difference between having two weekend of Coachella in California and throwing a country festival in Florida,” one source told Variety.

Stagecoach, the country music-themed festival, is also expected to be moved to a later date.
