After dating less than a year, Common and political commentator Angela Rye have called it quits. Rye confirmed she and the 45-year-old hip-hop artist are no more while speaking to Page Six TV.
“We have and will always be friends. He is an amazing human being, and I’m a much better person because he’s a part of my life. May we all keep loving and living,” the 38-year-old CNN correspondent said.
Common and Angela Rye started dating in the summer of 2017, making their first official appearance together at the Creative Arts Emmys in September. Their split comes as a surprise since both of them spoke candidly about their relationship and time spent together.
“There’s a definite connection with Angela Rye,” said Common in October. “She’s a wonderful woman. I will just say, I am dating. I’m happy right now—and she is an incredible human being.”
“From meeting Common I’ve definitely become a better human being, and for that I’m grateful,” said Rye in a recent interview she did with Vanity Fair.
Common is currently working hard on both his music and acting career. He recently announced he is forming a jazz group called August Greene, while he will be starring in upcoming movies like Three Seconds, The Hate U Give, and All About Nina.
Angela Rye, on the other hand, is regularly serving as a political commentator on CNN while also appearing on other media outlets like HuffPost Live, TV One and BET.
