We’ve seen many UFC and MMA stars give acting a shot over the years, and Conor McGregor is the next one in line. The Irish superstar will make his acting debut in the upcoming remake of ’80s action pic Road House led by Jake Gyllenhaal.

The UFC champion wanted to get into acting for quite some time, but he was waiting for the right project to come along. After hearing there was interest in him to join Road House, McGregor watched the original film and met up with producer Joel Silver to hear what his vision for the remake is.

Even before McGregor agreed to jump on board, the new Road House started shaping into a pretty star-studded affair. In addition to Gyllenhaal, it’s also set to star Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Lukas Gage, with Doug Liman serving as a director.

Road House is a reimagining of a classic 1989 action movie, starring Patrick Swayze. It will see Gyllenhaal take on the role of a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys. It will debut on Amazon Prime Video, with the release date yet to be set.
