Craig Gillespie in Talks to Direct Cruella de Vil Movie for Disney

Craig Gillespie is in early talks to direct the new and upcoming live-action Cruella.

Should both parties decide to continue, the I, Tonya director is set to replace the previously announced Alex Timbers. Timbers who has two productions opening on Broadway next year — Moulin Rouge and Beetlejuice had to forgo helming Curella due to scheduling difficulties.

The fur coat coveting villain of  101 Dalmatians was first seen in the 1961 animated classic and in 1996 she was portrayed by Glenn Close in the 1996 live-action film.

Emma Stone is set to star as the dog-hating villain Cruella De Vil in what is being billed as an origin story, set in the early 1980s. The film is produced by Andrew Gunn, Kristin Burr and Marc Platt.

According to Deadline, the search for a director is on as Disney has decided it needs the movie to start production soon, which also means that pre-production is set to start immediately and shooting will begin next year.
