Disney has hired Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and veteran Pirates scribe, Ted Elliott, to develop the sixth installment of the acclaimed franchise.

The first five installments starred Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, however, it is unclear whether he’ll take part in the reboot following his shenanigans on- and offscreen.

Per Variety, they weren’t the studio’s first choice. Disney first hired Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to develop the project last year, however, the duo has since exited the project.

Jerry Bruckheimer returns as producer.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has grossed $1.5 billion domestically and $3.07 billion internationally.
