“Crazy Rich Asians” and “Black Panther” Lead This Year’s PGA Nominations

Producers of Crazy Rich Asians, Bohemian Rhapsody, Black Panther and A Star is Born were among the 10 nominees announced in this year’s Producers Guild Awards on Friday.

In its 30th installment, the Producers Guild Awards nominated some of the most famous movies this year. Spike Lee’s BlacKKKlansman, Green Book, A Quiet Place, Vice, and The Favourite were other films nominated. Some notable names were missing on the list. First Man and If Beale Street Could Talk were both snubbed but Roma and the already mentioned films were included.

The winner of the PGA award has often won the Oscars in the past with exceptions in 2016 and 2017. The Shape of Water brought back the trend last year, by winning both the PGA award and the Oscars for the best picture. But even without winning, many of the films are likely to be nominated in various categories.

The Oscars have a history of awarding films that were difficult to film or had a unique twist to them. And with films like Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians breaking several records, they rank as the most likely to receive nominations.
