“Cruella” Sequel in Works at Disney

We can’t get enough Cruella De Vil. Prior to the second weekend of its release, Disney is already in early development oכ a Cruella sequel.

The live-action prequel to the animated feature One Hundred and One Dalmatians was directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Tony McNamara, who are both set to return for the sequel. It’s still unclear if Emma Stone will be returning to play Cruella.

Cruella opened on May 28 in theaters and on Disney+ with an additional $30 purchase through the streamer’s Premiere Access option. Over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, the film earned $26.5 domestically.

“We are very pleased with ‘Cruella’s’ box office success, in conjunction with its strong Disney Plus Premier Access performance to date. The film has been incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to A’s in every demographic from CinemaScore on opening weekend, ranking it among the most popular of our live-action reimaginings. We look forward to a long run as audiences continue to enjoy this fantastic film,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement.
