A CSI revival is nearing a series order and Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, and Mel Rodriguez have been added to the cast.

The series by Anthony Zuiker and Jerry Bruckheimer ran from 2000-2015 and was a huge hit for CBS. CSI centered on the crime solvers of the Las Vegas Crime Lab with the original cast including William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads, Gary Dourdan, Jorja Fox, Paul Guilfoyle, Robert David Hall, and Eric Szmanda. Later seasons included Laurence Fishburne and Ted Danson took over for Petersen as the lead.

Lauria (Friday Night Lights, Kingdom) is set to play Josh, a Level 3 CSI who leads the investigator on cases and excels at crime scene investigation. Newsome (Chicago Med, Barry) will play Maxine, the head of the Vegas Crime lab, and Rodriguez (Last Man on Earth) will play Hugo, the head medical examiner who is fascinated with dead bodies. Two additional roles are still being cast.

Jason Tracey will be writing the script. The CSI revival hasn’t been given an official series pickup yet.
