The batcall has been answered.

The CW announced last month that it would be adding a new superhero to its rank which already includes Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash.

The network plans to produce a series about Batwoman from the brains of Greg Berlanti and Caroline Dries who will produce and pen the script, respectively.

The standalone series has the following logline:

“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Step forth from the shadows, Ruby Rose.

The Orange is the New Black actress will take on the role of Batwoman who will first be introduced to audiences in The CW’s annual crossover event in December.

Viewers will then have to wait for the 2019-2020 season if the standalone series goes to order because she is the hero(ine) we deserve, but not the one we need right now.
