Twister is the latest ’90s classic getting a legacy sequel, and its feature is looking pretty bright. Daisy Edgar-Jones landed a lead in Twisters, a new chapter of the hit 1996 box office hit starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton.

Twisters has been developed as a legacy sequel of the original film, in collaboration between Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures. The Oscar-nominated director of Minari, Lee Isaac Chung, will be in charge of directing it, while Mark L. Smith wrote the script.

Twister sequel has been in development since 2020, with Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski on board to direct, but these plans eventually fell through. Smith stayed on board as a writer, and his script centered on a daughter of Hunt’s and Paxton’s characters, who has also become a storm chaser like her parents.

Daisy Edgar-Jones got her big break in the adaptation of Sally Rooney’s hit novel Normal People, and her star has been on the rise ever since. Just last year, she starred alongside Andrew Garfield in the mini-series Under the Banner of Heaven and appeared in the films Fresh and Where the Crawdads Sing. She was also recently cast in a drama On Swift Horses, co-starring Jacob Elordi and Will Poulter.
