Daisy Ridley has several pretty interesting projects on the way, and she just joined another one. The Star Wars star landed the lead role in Zak Hilditch’s survival thriller We Bury the Death, described as a story about grief, loss, and the undead.

Ridley will lead this project in the role of Ava, a woman who turns to desperate measures after her husband goes missing in the aftermath of a catastrophic military experiment. She joins a “body retrieval unit” in the hope she’ll find him alive, but things take a wild turn when the corpses she’s burying start showing signs of life.

Ross Dinerstein of Campfire Studios is coming on board as one of the producers, alongside Penguin Empire’s Kelvin Munro and Grant Sputore, and he’s looking forward to a collaboration with Hilditch.

“Zak is an immensely talented storyteller, and we’re ecstatic to reteam for our third feature together. With the brilliant Daisy Ridley onboard and Zak’s spectacularly unnerving and poignant script, we can’t wait to dig into production and bring this film to audiences,” said Dinerstein.

Ridley most recently led The Marsh King’s Daughter, and she’ll soon appear in the biographical drama Young Woman and the Sea and the neo-noir film Magpie. She’ll also reprise the role of Ray in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s upcoming Star Wars film.
