Daisy Ridley hasn’t starred in a major television project for quite some time, and she’s finally ready to change that. The Star Wars actress has been cast in the lead role in Amazon Studio’s new series The Better Liar, based on Tanen Jones’ book of the same name.

The Better Liar centers on a woman who hires a lookalike in an effort to conceal her sister’s death and claim their shared inheritance, but her deception ends up exposing a web of dangerous secrets.

Raelle Tucker (True Blood) wrote the script for this project and she’ll serve as an executive producer alongside Ridley.

Ridley previously had small guest starring roles in the British dramas Mr. Selfridge and Silent Witness, but The Better Liar will mark her very first starring TV role. She mostly focused on the big screen after getting her big break in Hollywood with the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Ridley has several exciting new projects coming out later this year. She’ll play key roles in the romantic dramedy Sometimes I Think About Dying, psychological thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter, the Gertrude Ederle biopic Young Woman and the Sea, and voice one of the characters in the Leonardo da Vinci stop-motion biopic The Inventor.
