At the age of 67, Dan Aykroyd is now confirming he is about to reprise one of the most famous roles of his career – Ghostbusters’ Raymond Stantz. This second sequel to the classic 80s hit movie is due to hit the screens in 2020 and it will be written by Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman who wrote the original films.
“It’s really good. It’ll be all, most of the original people. And then young stars…” said Aykroyd. “It’s gonna be great. I’m so excited about it, and it’s just wonderful to be able to [go] back and revisit that. I don’t do the pictures anymore much, and I’m in that one.”
The new movie is coming to cinemas 35 years after the original and along with Aykroyd, we will see other familiar faces. Sigourney Weaver is set to come back and reprise her role too. There is still no word whether Bill Murray will come back to play Peter Venkman. The new movie will also see Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard and Captain Marvel’s Mckenna Grace playing a brother and sister.
The movie is due to be released on July 10, 2020.
