James Bond fans have been wondering what’s next for Daniel Craig following his departure from the beloved spy franchise, and his next step may take you by surprise. The former Agent 007 is heading to Broadway, and he’s set to star in Macbeth opposite Ruth Negga.

Written by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, this play will see Craig joining forces with Barbara Broccoli, who’ll be producing Macbeth after working with him on the James Bond film franchise.

“Daniel is not only a great film actor but a magnificent theatre actor as well. I am thrilled that he will be supporting the return of Broadway playing this iconic role with the exquisitely talented Ruth Negga making her Broadway debut and under the expert direction of Sam Gold,” said Broccoli in an official statement.

Gold said it’s a pleasure to work with “two such masterful actors on one of dramatic literature’s most challenging and epic dramas.”

Macbeth, based on one of William Shakespeare’s most iconic plays, is expected to begin performances on March 29th, 2022 at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre, before having an official opening on April 28th, 2022.
