Filming of the next James Bond movie has been delayed after director Danny Boyle jumped ship, but that doesn’t mean Daniel Craig will be sitting around doing nothing. He just landed the lead role in contemporary murder mystery Knives Out.

The upcoming project will be directed by Rian Johnson and it will give him a nice little break from the galaxy far, far away. Critically acclaimed filmmaker wrote the script over the summer but had a hard time picturing the right person in the lead role. His problem was solved once he’s heard Daniel Craig finally has some free time on his hands.

“I have been a huge fan and always wanted to work with Craig… He’s an actor of extraordinary range, and we are looking forward to the fun of finding that modern detective and collaborating with Daniel on creating a new Poirot,” said Johnson.

Knives Out is partially inspired by his love of Agatha Christie murder mysteries and follows a detective trying to solve a violent crime in a contemporary setting. Johnson will produce the movie alongside Ram Bergman. They’ve been working together since 2005 when the director rose to prominence thanks to his brilliant debut Brick. The duo will seek distributors for Knives Out at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
