Biopics of controversial tech moguls made some waves in Hollywood in recent years, and it seems another one might be on the horizon. Darren Aronofsky will join forces with A24 for a biopic based on Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Elon Musk.

Musk rose through the ranks of the tech industry as an early investor in Tesla, and he eventually went on to become the company’s CEO. He went on to find success through other endeavors, including SpaceX, and is currently the wealthiest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of over $200 billion.

Aronofsky’s film will based on Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of the polarizing tech mogul, described as “the astonishingly intimate story of the most fascinating and controversial innovator of our era.” Isaacson’s book Steve Jobs previously served as the basis for a biopic of the iconic Apple CEO starring Michael Fassbender.

Musk confirmed the news on social media network X, formerly known as Twitter, which he purchased for $44 billion. He wrote, “Glad Darren is doing it. He is one of the best.”

Aronofsky’s filmography includes such critically acclaimed projects as Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan. He most recently directed Brendan Fraser in The Whale, for which he received an Academy Award for best lead actor earlier this year.
