Demi Lovato delivered one of the most heart wrenching and powerful live performances at this year’s Grammy Awards and proudly made an epic comeback in front of the whole world with her emotional and deeply personal new song “Anyone.”

Lovato’s voice started cracking at the very beginning of her performance, but she persisted and delivered the rest of her new ballad while on the verge of tears. It was her first live performance since summer 2018 when she took a break from music following devastating overdose.

The former Disney star discussed her return to the spotlight with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 before sharing her new single with the world. This song was written only four days before her personal tragedy, and she saw it as a “cry for help” but still couldn’t wait to share it with the world.

“I feel really excited and I’m ready. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long… Like I just want to go up there and tell my story. And it’s only telling a fraction of my story, but it’s still a little bit, and it’s enough to kind of show the world where I’ve been,” Lovato shared.
