Shakespeare claimed that “Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

We hardly think of Denzel Washington as an idiot, but he does appear to be joining the latest telling of Macbeth.

The Scottish play is once again receiving a big screen adaptation — this time by one half of the Coen Brothers, Joel Cohen.

Macbeth was last brought to screen in 2015 when Assassins Creed actor Michael Fassbender and La Vie en Rose actress Marion Cotillard starred alongside each other as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

Coen has cast his wife, Oscar winner Frances McDormand, in his adaptation following her portrayal of Lady Macbeth on stage in a 2016 production by the Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Washington is now believed to be in discussions to join the project which is also being written by Coen and produced by Scott Rudin.

What’s done cannot be undone.
