Destiny’s Child won’t be reuniting anytime soon. Despite recent rumors and speculations about Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams teaming up for new projects, the manager of the iconic girl group Mathew Knowles told TMZ that there are currently no plans for the trio to get back together.
The chatter initially started when the group’s social media accounts changed headers and received a new logo. This prompted fans to assume this is a hint to a new album or tour, with the various media outlets also joining in.
However, according to Knowles, who is also Beyoncé’s father, he didn’t even know about the change. He added that this is just a regular update and isn’t a sign that something is happening behind the scenes.
Destiny’s Child went on their first hiatus in 2001 after recording chart-topping and Grammy Award-winning 2001’s album Survivor. Beyoncé, Rowland, and Williams all embarked on solo adventures and recorded their debut albums. Rowland and Williams released Simply Deep and Heart to Yours respectively in 2002, while Beyoncé dropped her Dangerously in Love in 2003.
The group decided to get back together in 2004, recording their fourth, and so far final, album Destiny Fulfilled. After a worldwide tour to promote the album, the group disbanded for good in 2006.
In the following years, Destiny’s Child members collaborated together on their solo tracks or reunited occasionally for one-off performances. The most recent was during Beyoncé’s Coachella headlining set in 2018.
