Amazon’s hit superhero series The Boys already produced one successful spin-off with Gen V, and there’s more where that came from! The streaming giant is plotting a new series The Boys: Mexico with executive producers Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.

The Boys: Mexico will be shot in the Latin American country from its title, and its plot is currently being kept under wraps. The Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is coming on board as creator and executive producer, and Amazon is currently searching for a co-showrunner.

Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal will also serve as the show’s executive producers, and this is only the latest in the long line of their collaborations. The longtime friends and collaborators, who first co-starred in Alfonso Cuarón’s acclaimed film Y Tu Mamá También, will produce this series under their La Corriente del Golfo banner, founded in 2018.

The Boys draws inspiration from the comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and it centers on a group of vigilantes trying to expose a team of corrupt superheroes who are abusing their power. The original series premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2019, and it spawned a full-blown franchise, including the hit spin-off Gen V, which premiered this year and already received a Season 2 renewal.
