Another classic has been added to the line-up of Disney’s live-action remakes.

Almost 80 years since its big-screen debut, Bambi will be remade for today’s generation in the same vein as The Jungle Book and The Lion King, using CGI.

The original animated film told the story of a young deer whose mother is killed by a hunter. He befriends a rabbit and a skunk who accompanies him as he grows up to become the Great Prince of the Forest amongst the looming threat which Man poses.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who penned Captain Marvel, and writer of Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Lindsey Beer, will collaborate on the screenplay, while Chris and Paul Weitz’s Depth of Field studio will produce.

Bambi is just the latest in Disney’s long list of remakes, with new adaptations of The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, and Peter Pan currently in the works.
